Devil inside me
The devil inside me
What on earth do I do about this guy
I can't do anything on my own. I've lost. It's impossible. I surrender.
Unconditional surrender
All I can do now is to rely on Amida Buddha
And in order to save us, such poor people, Amida Buddha sacrificed himself to become a Buddha.
This is the teaching of Other Power Hongan preached by Shinran, but it feels like listening to Luther's sermons.
The devil inside me
What on earth do I do about this guy
I can't do anything on my own. I've lost. It's impossible. I surrender.
Unconditional surrender
All I can do now is to rely on God
And in order to save us, such poor people, God sacrificed his only son, Christ.
That's it, right?
Right now, I'm at the stage where I'm thinking of talking about how I first got saved by Shinran after joining Buddhism, but I've started to resonate with Luther and I don't understand what's going on. I had planned to include Christ much later.
By the way, Amida Buddha attained enlightenment, didn't he?
And Christ was resurrected, didn't he?
In other words, all of us have been saved, haven't we?
So everyone can be saved.
Even if you have a devil inside you
That is, even if you are an evil person
No, you can be saved precisely because you are an evil person.
"Even good people can attain enlightenment, not to mention evil people."
(Even good people can attain enlightenment, so evil people can attain enlightenment even more.)
This is the famous "evil person's right vessel theory" that Shinran spoke of.
There is a devil in all of us, so there are no good people to begin with.
"Everyone is evil."
It's kind of like a Takeshi movie.
And these guys too
"Everyone will be saved."
That's how amazing the power of Buddha, the power of God, the power of Christ is.
Guided by love and mercy
