About Reincarnation (2)
Considering the social circumstances in India, I think it is easy to understand why the idea of reincarnation was born. When you feel that your situation is beyond your control, the only explanation you can find is to look for the cause in a previous life.
India was (and maybe even now) a society where status is fixed by the caste system. If society is fixed and there is no way to rise through personal effort in this life, you could say that the only way to find hope is to cling to the idea of reincarnation. People believe that their current unfortunate position is a punishment for their past life. And by thinking that if they accumulate good deeds in this life, they can rise to a higher position in the next life, they have at least held on to a little hope.
Now, I said that I no longer believe in reincarnation, but I don't think that there is no connection between past lives and current lives. On the contrary, past lives and current lives are closely connected. However, I don't think that the past life of a specific individual is connected to the current life of a specific individual.
When we look at the developmental process of a human individual, in the process in which an egg is fertilized to become a fertilized egg and an embryo is formed, it seems that traces of evolution from single cells to multi-cells, from fish to amphibians, and then to mammals can be seen. Doesn't this mean that the history of evolution from the birth of life to the present is stored in human DNA? Not just the previous life, but we are living now inheriting 3.8 billion years of life. Even if there is no connection between individuals, there is a connection between the whole and the individual. However, since the whole is a collection of each individual, it can ultimately be said to be an infinite accumulation of connections between individuals. And those memories are passed on to the next generation. However, those memories are not exactly the same as those inherited in the past. They are passed on to the next generation as new memories that have been changed by the current life. A continuous connection between past lives, current lives, and future lives. I wonder if this is the connection between past lives, this life, and the next life, and reincarnation.
However, I don't think this connection is limited to DNA. As long as a person is alive, he or she is not alone. He or she is always interacting with the world around him or her. It affects not only people, but also the living things around us and the environment around us. No matter how lonely we think we are, we are always interacting with the world. We interact not only with society, but also with the material world. Our very existence affects the world in some way, and this accumulates and forms the future. Also, since the present exists as a result of all the activities of past life that influenced the world, we are living now in the accumulation of the history of the universe, including matter, and we have an impact on the universe, even if it is small, that will remain for eternity, and we die as an accumulation that will last for eternity. Even after death, the traces we left on this universe will never disappear. The results of an action we once gave will produce the next result, which will produce further results. It is transmitted to the universe like a wave and cannot be taken back. When the results we once gave produce the next result, it is no longer in our control.
If life was born 3.8 billion years ago and the birth of the universe is 13.8 billion years ago, life must have been born from the accumulation of the results of the universe over 10 billion years. Life is here as a memory of the history of the universe. In other words, each of us exists here and now as a memory of not only the 3.8 billion year history of life, but also the 13.8 billion year history of the universe.
Is this what they call reincarnation?
Now, I said earlier that the results of our actions are transmitted to the people around us, to the surrounding environment, and even to the entire universe like vibrations, and that it is now irreversible, but it is too early to despair. This is because the vibrations of love and compassion are overwhelmingly stronger than the negative vibrations such as anger and hatred. I would like to avoid the expression "vibration" because it sounds like a New Age, but the image of it being transmitted is like a wave. In other words, love and compassion win over anger and hatred. So it is not too late.
Oh, by the way, the last Kannon was vertical, so it was perfect for a mobile phone wallpaper, but I had an AI make a horizontal one, so please check it out. It's a little different from the last one and charming, isn't it? It's the one from The Introduction of Buddhism II. I use this one as the wallpaper on my PC. In both cases, whether you are using a smartphone or a PC, Kannon Bodhisattva will protect you. There is no doubt that She (or He) will save you from danger, not only in fire and water, but even in cyberspace.
Guided by love and mercy,
